In tandem, our affiliate, GOJI Living, is a growing real estate company. We currently oversee contemporary apartment complexes with a portfolio valued at $40 million. Our target is to scale this to $100 million by the end of 2025.

We’re in search of a dynamic, seasoned VP of Finance who has a passion for mergers and acquisitions and excels in a rapid-paced setting.

We need a finance leader who zeroes in on impactful tasks, knows when to opt for a quick, pragmatic approach, and can identify when a more thorough analysis is warranted. We value collaboration and believe in the importance of face-to-face interactions to foster a strong team environment. We do require occasional travel to our office locations (Saint John & Halifax) and travel expenses are covered.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a VP of Finance or in a similar senior financial leadership role (5+ years).
  • Experience managing people (5+ years).
  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions (5+ years).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field. CPA designation (CFA designation would be an asset).
  • Experience with real estate acquisitions.
  • Previous experience in a Controller role.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to think and act quickly. Ability to manage around tight deadlines and still get the details right.

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Participate in overall business strategy.
  • Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Create and maintain high level cash flow projections.
  • Build strong relationships with external tax accountants & advisors.

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):

  • Discover and evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
  • Co-lead due diligence and integration efforts.
  • Oversee residential real estate acquisitions.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate & timely financial statements (under 5 business days).
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead a high-performing finance team.
  • Mentor and develop finance team members, encouraging their professional growth.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Establish and enforce financial controls and compliance.
  • Analyze and manage the organization’s liabilities and investments.
