Description:

As a Water Treatment Engineer at Integrated Sustainability Consultants, you will be an integral part of the Facilities Engineering Team, developing technical solutions in the water, waste and energy fields.

Your extensive process engineering and design experience in the industry and/or consulting, as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make a difference in our industry and inspire new and better ways to implement engineering solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate small to large sized teams and projects with water, waste and energy as central concepts
  • Undertake and oversee detailed data characterization and analysis
  • Complete front end feasibility, preliminary and detailed engineering design in a variety of technical contexts
  • Undertake construction management and system optimization where required to meet clients’ requirements
  • Water/Wastewater chemistry analysis and chemical modeling to assess treatment requirements for use, reuse and/or discharge.
  • Foster critical relationships with clients, technical and non-technical staff, government representatives, and technology suppliers
  • Supervise junior technical and field staff
  • Design/Retrofit of water/wastewater systems and facilities for industrial and municipal Water Treatment.
  • Sizing control valves (CVs) and Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs).
  • Line sizing, sizing of equipment including pumps, pressure vessels, storage tanks, etc, hydraulic analysis, process analysis, process modeling and plant optimization projects.
  • Preliminary design, and detailed design of process plants and Water Treatment plants in western Canada and elsewhere
  • Process optimization studies including process simulation Using VMG Sim Software and troubleshooting.
  • Oversight of procurement, fabrication, construction of water and wastewater systems
  • Work with regulatory requirements related to engineering including standards (API, ASME) and other industry related codes.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of water/wasteWater Treatment, aqueous chemistry, process and/or mechanical engineering is considered an asset
  • 5+ years applicable Process engineering experience in North American industrial Water Treatment, oil and gas, mining, or other process industries.
  • Legally able to work in Canada.

Position Requirements:

  • Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC); experience and/or registration with U.S bodies including Texas and California is considered an asset
  • Excellent English communication skills, and experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports
  • Proven leadership and communication skills, with business development and client communication skills
  • Thorough understanding of other disciplines’ roles in the design process
  • Ability to work under own initiative to meet deadlines and manage priorities
  • Experience with managing Water Treatment systems fabrication and construction is considered an asset
  • Experience with hard-rock mining water management and reuse systems, municipal and camp water/wasteWater Treatment, other industrial and municipal applications
  • Strong understanding of available Water Treatment technologies and practices for treatment, recycling and reuse for industrial and municipal applications
