BLK OWNED mission is to celebrate, showcase, explore, and support Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in the Greater Hamilton Area. Our goal is to empower and create a sustainable and thriving economy for Black-owned businesses.

Project Overview - The Community Platform:

As a sole developer at BLK OWNED, you will play a critical role in developing our new website. Our mission with our revamped website is to create a vibrant and supportive digital space where members can connect, collaborate, and thrive. From fostering meaningful connections to providing valuable resources, BLK OWNED aims to be the go-to platform for the Black business community in the Greater Hamilton Area. Offering features such as digitally connecting (chat, message board, etc.), educational courses, and business resources. Your creative input and strategic thinking will contribute to making BLK OWNED a go-to destination for Black entrepreneurs seeking growth and success.

Project Timeline:As a developer, you will be joining the team during a critical phase of development, where your insights and design expertise will directly impact our ability to complete this project on time. We aim to have our new website fully launched by June 2024 with beta testing complete during May 2024.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proven experience as a developer, with expertise in web development and platform creation using Wordpress.
• Proficiency in relevant programming languages and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP)
• Having experience with integrating and modifying plug-ins, and developing custom themes
• Ability to build out complex website features like login portals, profiles, chat boxes, etc.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a genuine interest in supporting Black-owned businesses.

Location: Remote Salary: Lump sum payment of $6,000

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 4 months

Salary: $1,500.00 per month
