DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Tasks
Liaise with the Lead Welding Supervisor, Fabrication Shop Planner/Scheduler, & other internal personnel as necessary, to discuss execution of upcoming jobs
Coaching, assisting in training, directing, & supervising of junior employees & apprentices, inspecting, & certifying their work (CWB Certification, training, maintenance, etc.)
Liaising with Fabrication Shop Planner/Scheduler & Purchasing Manager to ensure that adequate materials are available for scheduled start date of jobs
Work with engineering to ensure shape cuts & shop drawings include design for manufacturing
Liaise with internal personnel including the Lead Welding Supervisor, Engineering, Quality, & other Production Leaders on jobs to discuss most cost effective & efficient methods
Shop Floor Tasks
Maintain Welder CWB Certification
Operate manual / semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux-cored arc welding, plasma arc welding, shielded metal arc welding & oxy-acetylene welding
Operate manual / semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears & other metal straightening & bending machines
Repair parts of metal products by welding extra layers
May be required to travel to jobsites
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Journeyperson Welder/Metal Fabricator credentials considered an asset
CWB Weld Supervisor certification required
Minimum of three years experience welding in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred but not required
Ability to read & interpret blueprints & critically analyze information provided on drawings
Ability to complete Quality Control Checks throughout the fabrication process
Valid drivers license required
