Join our team as a Wellness and Addictions Counselor, playing a crucial role in supporting individuals facing homelessness and addiction. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, and under the general direction of the Managing Director, the primary objective of this position is to encourage, facilitate, maintain, and enhance recovery processes for individualregarding addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counseling sessions with clients. As a key team member, you will engage with clients, build therapeutic relationships and access community services to benefit our clients. Required Qualifications
Diploma in Mental Health & Wellness, Addiction Counselling or Chemical Dependency diploma
Additional Training in human services management or administration would be preferred.
Minimum 2 years of direct clinical experience.
Experience working in a cross cultural setting is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough understanding of and commitment to confidentiality.
Knowledge of addictions screening and assessment tools and procedures.
Knowledge of best practices in the addictions field and harm reduction strategies including the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery Services(SMRS)
Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act and other legislation relevant to the provision of Mental Health services.
Leadership abilities and professional maturity to develop and maintain consulting relationships within a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to make sound judgments regarding client care.
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed.
