Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

Scope:

Nasittuq seeks casual and seasonal Wildlife Monitors to support our NWS northern operations by providing safety to small teams of employees performing outdoor work in the Arctic. These positions are temporary assignments that assist in the north for our sealift operations as well as will provide seasonal/casual support for summer projects.

This is a term, Unionized position. The candidate must be comfortable working in colder climates. All travel to/from site, including board and meals, is provided. Additional training will be provided, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient at handling firearms
  • Must possess a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and provide a copy upon application
  • Must be in good physical condition, ability to walk long distances and stand on their feet for long periods of time while carrying equipment
  • Previous experience in a similar work setting in a remote northern environment (i.e., hunter, guide, camp safety officer, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including Fall Arrest Harness, as required
  • Must be comfortable flying frequently in helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft
  • Must possess safety footwear that meet standards for workplace safety
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, and collaborate as a team member
  • Must be able to qualify for Reliability Security Clearance
  • Must possess Standard First Aid, or be willing to obtain certification
