The Wisdom Council & Traditional Indigenous Wellness Coordinatorwill primarily be responsible to coordinate:
- the development and implementation of an NHR Wisdom Council;
- the coordination of land-based education and training at the NHR; and
- support integration of traditional Indigenous cultural practices in the NHR.
Schedule may include evenings and weekends as required.
The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and
Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education related to Community Development or Social services (combinations of education and
- Previous administrative experience
- Working knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet
- Must be of Indigenous Ancestry
- Knowledge of Indigenous teachings, culture and tradition
- Knowledge of the Truth & Reconciliation Calls to Action, MMIWG2S+ Calls to Justice and United Nations
- Understanding of traditional protocols and ceremonies in Northern Manitoba
- Knowledge of how to work with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Knowledge of Cultural Safety and anti-racism
- Knowledge of Health system to support integration of traditional medicine and healing within the NHR health
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset, preferably Cree, Dene or Michif
- Respects and promotes a culturally diverse population
- Excellent time management skills, ability to be flexible in-service delivery and prioritize work
- Successful candidate subject to provide security checks in accordance with Security Checks for Employment
