Yard Foreman

About Us:

McCann Redi-Mix has been a family owned and operated company for over 70 years specializing in concrete construction as well as other divisions. We are currently looking for a Yard Foreman to work at our main facility in Mt. Carmel, Ontario.

The Yard Foreman will act as the main contact for all field staff regarding required materials and tools needed to complete daily construction division work. Responsibilities will include the development and implementation of inventory systems, maintaining the yard to ensure workplace safety, inspection of construction materials and tools to ensure proper working condition, and efficiently sourcing and storing all materials.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Serve as main contact for all field staff regarding construction materials and tools in the yard.
• Develop and implement inventory systems for construction materials, tools and products. Includes items such as dimensional lumber, rebar, construction tools and misc materials
• Implement efficient storage methods, permitting efficient space utilization and flexibility of arrangement, minimizing material deterioration and allowing ease of physical inventory
• Communicate and negotiate with suppliers/vendors as required
• Build lumber openings and complete other carpentry work for McCann projects
• Cut and bend rebar for McCann projects
• Complete light welding on forming ties and rebar
• Work with McCann boom truck operator to load and unload boom truck as required
• Operate yard forklifts
• Occasionally operate redimix, gravel or float trucks
• Occasionally operate skid-steer, mini excavator, or other small equipment
• Complete small concrete projects as required such as precast slabs or parging
• Organizing and maintaining safe work areas in a professional manner including concrete form yard
• Supervise yard crew of 1 – 2 staff members
• Other related duties required as directed by management

The ideal candidate has:

• Thorough communication skills that excel in a fast-paced and multi tasked environment with minimal supervision
• Strong carpentry skills including attention to detail
• Construction and welding experience
• AZ or DZ licence (is an asset)
• Skidsteer and/or mini hoe experience (is an asset)
• Experience with routine maintenance operations, power tools and reading of blueprints
• Excellent time management and organizational skill
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

Work Conditions

• Work is performed in a combination of environments - travel to off-site locations may be required to complete misc projects
• Work both indoors and outdoors
