Yard Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

Key Requirements and Experience

  • Warehouse, inventory, and personnel management experience is necessary.

  • Observe all aspects of warehouse health & safety with the goal of preventing injury, accidents, and near-misses through training, communication, and skills development and hazard assessment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the lumberyard and personnel.
  • Motivate, lead, guide, and train employees under your supervision.
  • Assist in recruiting staff for the department.
  • Determine work schedule to ensure customer needs are met.

· Make sure that all customers benefit from exceptional customer service in a pleasant and safe environment.

  • Ensure customer deliveries are loaded and scheduled efficiently.
  • Ensure inventory system accuracy by monitoring delivery manifests for incoming and outgoing product, observe the condition of incoming products, and complete paperwork with attention to accuracy
  • Managing damaged or culled product.
  • Control and maintain inventory and ensure product availability.
  • Oversee the Efficient and safe loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by the management team

Logistics:

  • Manage shipping and receiving personnel to ensure deliveries are loaded and routed for fast, efficient service.
  • Ensure all delivery trucks leave at a consistent time every day to give our customers the highest consistent rate of service.
  • Manage warehouse staff to organize warehouse and yard duties (picking orders, receiving, inventory control, shipping, stocking, and organizing)
  • Follow Health and safety awareness practices (e.g., safe material handling practices, secure loading, knowledge, and application of proper ergonomics)

  • An individual who can perform physically demanding work (must be able to move products that weigh 10 – 50 pounds, be able to walk, climb, balance, twist, lift and bend safely and regularly
