Job Description
The Youth Support Worker reports directly to the House Manager of Chrysalis House. The main function of the Youth Support Worker is to provide coaching/mentoring to residents in all areas of life skills. It is also the responsibility of the Youth Support Worker to ensure house policies and procedures are adhered to while on shift. Holding structure within the house in terms of house guidelines, while balancing a coaching/mentoring relationship with the youth is a critical function of this role.
Qualifications
Required
· College diploma in the human service field (e.g., human service counselor, youth care worker)
· No history of criminal conviction
· Excellent communication and youth supervisory skills
· Ability to work independently and as a team member
· Collaborative, positive, solution-focused attitude
· Current Standard First Aid and Level ‘C’ CPR Certification and Suicide Intervention Training
· Certificate in Brain Story through Alberta’s Family Wellness Initiative
Preferred
· University degree in a human service field (social work, education, social work, sociology)
· Experience working with out-of-home youth and/or youth with complex needs
· Familiarity with community resources and programs
· Familiarity with experiences of people living in transitional/supportive housing
· Training or experience working with youth with mental illness and addictions, as well as trauma.
Primary Duties
· Collaborate with the House Manager in terms of the development and implementation of individual case plans.
· Coordinate and implement activities/workshops for residents as directed by immediate supervisor.
· Oversee and help with all household activities including, but not limited to: meal planning and preparation with the youth, scheduling of house chores, participation in assigned house chores, etc.
· Facilitate personal growth, independent living skills and social/life skills of residents.
· Ensure house/program guidelines are being followed.
- Must be available to work weekends, overnights and holidays.

Part-time hours: 16-40 per week
Salary: From $17.00 per hour
