033-24 Village Host Team Assistant

The Village Animation and Events department of the Community Engagement and Cultural Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Village Host Team Assistant. Reporting to the Village Host Program Coordinator, this position offers between 48-64 hours bi-weekly starting approximately April 2, 2024.
The Village Host Team Assistant’s primary role is to be the first point of contact for the public relating to inquiries, advice, and concerns at the Village Host information kiosks. The Team Assistant has additional responsibilities to assist the Village Host Program Coordinator and Team Leader with volunteer and staff coordination; office administration and email duties; advertising and marketing and liaising with various community groups.
Qualified candidates possess a grade 12 diploma with courses in the areas of customer service, hospitality, office administration and/or computer courses and at least 1-3 years previous experience in a similar guest facing role with an element of leadership to others. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of the resort community, local festivals and events and some knowledge of RMOW programs and municipal departments. Candidates must also be physically able to perform outdoor work in all weather conditions to move promotional and marketing materials to the kiosks. The ability to speak a second language and community volunteer coordination experience are strong assets.

The successful candidate possesses the proven ability to effectively organize, prioritize and work independently, train others, and demonstrates a commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team and will create positive working relationships with others. The starting wage for this job position is $27.57 per hour.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must provide a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
