What role you will play in our team
-Reporting to the Applications & Systems Group Leader this position is responsible for identifying, implementing and maintaining  advanced process control applications and lead continuous improvement initiatives.  These applications are expected to have a direct influence on the technical performance of unit process operations allowing them to operate in a safe, environmentally sound manner while optimizing unit throughput and yields.
-Molecule Management System (MMS) Element 6 Lead 
-Lead project execution of new advanced applications
-Provide input into advanced application growth and sustainment plans
-Mentor and provide guidance for Unit Process Control Engineers
-Perform peer reviews for Unit Process Control Engineer activities
-Provide overt and visible technical leadership
-Influence other site organizations to provide support and guidance
-Support IRP organization for implementation of new projects related to process control
-Interface with Process Control Networks to leverage best practices for site implementation, lead initiatives and provide support to other sites
-Participate in margin improvement meetings providing input as needed, including DMC operational changes resulting from MV metric and RTO DA analysis.
-Accountable for identification & implementation of operating improvements within established standards/limits and benchmarked with industry "Best Practices".
What you will do
Safety, Health and Environment
-Supports safety culture and effective use of LPS in a manner consistent with "NOBODY GETS HURT" mindset. Examples:
-Incorporate LPSA into working discussions
-Use of JLAs in work activities and promote creation of new ones when required
-Comply with the LPO schedule per LPS Stewardship meeting
-Support as needed in Equipment Strategy, HAZOP, Risk Assessments, Alarm Management
 
Daily / Weekly Operation
-Perform daily console monitoring using RTO Depth Analysis, DMC MV metric review, DV applications monitoring screens, shift report
-Participate in Business Team PMT, Weekly Production, meetings
-Interface with the console daily, bringing forward opportunities to capture (margin / energy) and taking feedback on any improvements needed
-Review weekly alarm report to look for areas where TDC alarm tuning or modes 
 
Long-term / Planning
-Utilize CPM reports to improve tuning on loops flagged as not performing well
-Monitor health of advanced controllers and report to Business Team and AE/SE stewardship
-Bring constraint busting opportunities to the business team.
-Share applications performance at monthly BT monitoring discussion at xPMT
-Provide input into the long-term strategy plans for MMS 6
-Act as extended member of ACAP-RTO COP, attending network meetings and special topic presentations. Help drive Best Practice implementation.
-Mentor student placement engineers
 
About you
Skills and Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in chemical or Process Control Engineering, or equivalent, as certified by an acceptable Professional Engineering Association. Master’s or PhD Degree in Process Control preferred.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
-Proficiency and comfort level working with computers, understanding programming concepts, and communicating these to others.
-TDC 2000/3000 are the primary tools used by operations to control the plant. It is within the scope of the Applications Engineer role to update and maintain displays, loop configurations, and navigational elements within these systems for operations use. The TDC systems provide access to current alarm and event histories and historical process data allowing for up to the minute analysis and development of control strategies and also ongoing unit monitoring in order to support unit optimization efforts.
