Intact Lab is working to formalize its practices to ensure that the digital products and services we create are accessible and inclusive. This year, the Accessibility & Inclusion Program aims to integrate accessibility and inclusive design into how we work by revising product design and development processes, collecting and creating supporting resources, coaching teams, monitoring accessible UX, and creating ways for customers to provide accessibility feedback. The Accessibility & Inclusion Intern will support these goals and will report to the Accessibility & Inclusion Program Lead.

Depending on your skills, you will support the Lead in:

  • Designing and facilitating workshops for collaborative decision making
  • Designing and documenting revised product design, development and QA processes
  • Communicating and managing change
  • Maintaining a dashboard to monitor accessible UX based on identified accessibility issues
  • Researching and writing accessibility and inclusive design guidelines
  • Supporting colleagues in the development of their accessibility and inclusive design skills and practices

You’ll also have the opportunity to:

  • Explore new ideas and learn best practices in a fun, inclusive environment.
  • Use your creativity to help the team solve problems and contribute to important and challenging projects.
  • Participate in social activities with the team to meet people and celebrate successes.

Qualifications: What you bring to the table

  • Enthusiasm for learning about and creating products and services that are inclusive, accessible, and representative of the communities we intend to serve 
  • Skills in one or more of: business design, operations, product design, service design, web development, mobile development, business analysis, or QA.
  • Some familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 
  • You have a spirit of analysis and problem solving
  • You have autonomy and a good sense of responsibility
  • You are a current student at a post-secondary institution. (Unfortunately, recent grads are ineligible for internships.)
  • People with lived experience with disability and assistive technology are strongly encouraged to apply
  • You are bilingual (English and French). Need to interact regularly with colleagues across the country.
  • You are available 35 hours/week from May 6 to August 23, 2024.
