We are seeking a highly skilled and independent Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our company as the sole finance professional. This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment, is self-motivated, and can efficiently manage all aspects of financial operations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the CEO to continually evaluate all accounting processes, systems, reporting practices, tech, and support in the implementation of new processes, systems, and technologies with an eye on making internal processes more efficient
- Liaise with CEO to develop financial models to support growth, competitive bids, and or cost and process improvement initiatives
- Monthly Accounting, Analysis, and Reporting
- Planning and Forecasting
- Prepare and review financial information for senior management including competitive analysis, business cases, and presentations
- Determine cost of operations by collecting operational data and identifying direct and indirect costs attributable to services delivered
- Lead, execute and take accountability over financial audits
- Prepare variance analysis and provide variances vs. projection reporting as necessary
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations within the company (payroll, invoicing, and other transactions)
- Act as a liaison with IT, Administration, HR, and other departments/divisions on various projects, initiatives, and process improvements
- Ensure that financial practices are sound and in accordance with accounting rules (GAAP, etc.) as well as company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct quarterly review with Feldstein & Associates
- Management of the Scientific Research & Experimental Development tax incentive program (SR&ED)
- Manage corporate credit cards
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven and progressive experience in accounting, preferably in a small business environment
- Demonstrated experience with financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience completing Canadian corporate income tax, payroll tax, and sales tax returns
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
- Prior experience or comfortable working in a stand-alone function
