Shabatura Farms Ltd. is a fast-growing, large-scale fruit and vegetable operation in Southern Ontario. The farm is responsible for growing, harvesting, packaging, and selling field grown produce across Canada and the Eastern United States. With the current rate of growth, Shabatura Farms Ltd. is looking to add valuable members to our administrative team.
Overview:
Our farm is seeking an experienced, self-directed Accountant/Controller to oversee all financial aspects of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for, financial analysis, reporting and forecasting, managing the budget, accounts payable and receivable, and regular payroll. The role will require the candidate to work closely with management onsite to learn and understand the complexities of the farm operation. Once the operation is learned and understood, there will be opportunity for the candidate to work remotely, with scheduled office hours at the farm.

Responsibilities:
· Oversee and manage all accounting functions for the organization including accounts payable/receivable, general ledgers and financial statement preparation
· Maintain accurate financial records
· Create and present regular reports such as balance sheets, income statements, etc.
· Oversee and prepare employee payroll, T4s, ROEs, etc.
· Prepare and submit all government filings as required, including but not limited to payroll remittances, HST and corporate taxes
· Oversee and conduct invoicing
· Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
· Assist management in the decision-making process by preparing budgets and financial forecasts
· All other duties as required
Qualifications/Skills:
· Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
· Accounting designation (CPA or CMA), or an equivalent combination of related experience and education
· Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
· Experience with and competent use of accounting software and payroll systems (Currently using Sage 50)
· Self-motivated and self-directed
· Ability to work closely with the senior management team
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and proficient use of Microsoft Excel
