What would you be doing?
As an Accounting Generalist, you will report to the Interim CFO. This role engages in great interpersonal relations with the Firm leadership and team members. You will have a strong eye for detail and would be responsible for the accounts payable while supporting the internal accounting administration for the firm.
  • Providing bookkeeping support internally, using QuickBooks Online and various payment systems.
  • Processing transactions in an integrated cloud-based environment.
  • Applying critical thinking abilities to assess transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment and required allocations.
  • Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying GST/HST numbers, scheduling and preparing payments, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Ensuring appropriate approvals are in place prior to transaction processing.
  • Monitoring daily cash positions.
  • Performing account reconciliations.
  • Preparing adjusting journal entries.
  • Producing accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Preparing and filing the Firm GST/HST returns.
  • Investigating variances and providing input to Management.
  • Providing assistance with the annual budget process.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and Firm policies.
Who is our ideal candidate?
  • Graduate from a postsecondary institution - bookkeeping diploma would be an asset.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience is a must.
  • Critical thinker and trouble-shooting skills are essential.
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting software is an asset.
  • Intermediate Excel skills a must and advanced would be an asset.
  • Ability to change priorities quickly and easily, meet recurring deadlines and take ownership of assigned work.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Approachable, supportive team player with a strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated history of achieving common goals.
