Job description

Position Goal

To provide exceptional service within an interdisciplinary team delivering the highest level of program care for individuals in residential treatment.

Position Summary, Duties and Responsibility

Reporting to the Operations Manager & Lead Addictions Worker, the Addictions Worker is responsible for collaborating on assessments including intake and implementation of service users care plan. The Addictions Worker is to engage in therapeutic practices within the scope of practice and ensure all practice standards are met. The Addictions Worker will collaborate on the development of Policy and Procedure and protocols and is responsible for adhering to Policy and Procedure and Protocols in place. A New Tomorrow Treatment Solutions delivers exceptional treatment services to individuals recovering from substance misuse with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to transforming lives.

This position is responsible for the duties listed below in the areas of: Client Centered Care, Facility Care and Management, Reporting & Team Building

Client Centered Care and Facility Care and Management

o Provide collaboration in assessment of client upon intake and upon graduation

o Support the team ensuring the success of group therapy sessions and psychoeducational groups

o Deliver programming and group sessions for clients

o Promote a client centered, strength based and trauma informed, holistic approach to treatment recovery

o Be knowledgeable of client care plans, Policy and Procedure, protocols and daily routine and expectations and communicate same to co-workers

o Be knowledgeable of current service users’ medications including contraindications and side effects and communicate same to co-workers

o Review Memos and Communication Book for current information and concerns

o Promote and engage in collaborative care amongst service users and staff

o Ensure appropriate specialized care and participate in any assessment in the best interest of the client

o Ensure to provide detailed client documentation in accordance with standards of Accreditation, Licensing and Assisted Living Registry as appropriate and support Addictions Workers in completing same

o Ensure commitment to confidentiality is maintained utilizing the guidelines of the Personal Information Act of BC

o Participate in client centered team meetings throughout the phases of treatment and provide insight and collaboration

o Provide direct client support and advocacy during high conflict situations

o Respond swiftly and appropriately to medical emergencies including accidents or overdose

  • Build trust, open communication, innovation and creative strategies for service users and support fellow team members to deliver exceptional treatment services

o Support and encourage clients in taking part in recreational activities and curriculum as it relates to recovery

  • Engage and promote culturally sensitive programming and practices
  • Support service users in utilizing clinical services
  • Participate in case conference as requested
  • Ensure all critical incident reports are completed in accordance with standards as per Policy including Licensing and Assisted Living Registry
  • Ensure interaction with service users and fellow team members are appropriate and sensitive to LGBTQ2+, cultural, racial, religious, and other minorities
  • Provide meal and snack preparation as required
  • Take part in maintaining cleanliness of the facility and grounds in accordance with Health & Safety standards
  • Ensure that appropriate and required safety measures are in place and bring any safety hazards to Operations Manager and/or Youth Facility Manager in a timely manner
  • Take part in safety drills and facility inspections as required
  • Ensure appropriate staff to client ratio and bring concerns to Management when recognized
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned.

Reporting

  • Participate in regular consistent meeting attendance with Operations Manager and/or Youth Centre Manager identifying areas of personal/team and organizational success, areas of need, dynamics and trends that are or may impact service delivery
  • Be open and receptive to clinical supervision

o Provide briefing notes as necessary for critical incidents collaborating with team to determine authorship

o Ensure the completion of all daily charting including: critical incidents, EMAR, Meds/cash counts, key counts, progress notes, communication and daily checklists as required

o Be open and receptive to need for reflection, debriefing and processing of distressing events and/or vicarious trauma

o Be open and receptive to coaching and mentoring as well as the progressive discipline process as required

o Take part in orientation, training and development with open mind and commitment to enhancement of existing skills and development of competencies

o Take part in team learning, continuous education around recovery, health and wellness

o Participate in team meetings contributing to agenda as requested

o Engage in courageous conversations

o Take part in annual performance review participating in development of professional goals

o Be aware of and adhere to Human Resources related Policy and Procedure seeking support of Operations Manager and/or Youth Manager in navigating challenging co-worker relations

Team Building

o Take part in problem solving, conflict resolution with objectivity promoting the autonomy and growth of the team

o Advocate for the needs of service users and co-workers; provide positive feedback to co-workers and encourage service users in their treatment goals

  • Build positive, supportive relationship with co-workers (including Nursing, Clinical and Managerial staff) promoting cohesiveness

o Engage in team building activities with co-workers and henceforth promote opportunities for the advancement of the workplace culture

Minimum Skills and Qualifications

o Certificate in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline

o Experience working with clients in addiction, mental health, and recovery

o Excellent administrative, time management and organizational skills

o Current Class 5 Driver’s License

o Current CPR-HCP certification

o Addictions Care and Treatment Online certification

o Self-motivated and capacity to work independently

o Competent with Microsoft Office

o Criminal Record Check within 12 months of the hiring date

o Other training as required including Non Violent Crisis Intervention and Naloxone Administration

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $25.05-$28.75 per hour
