Job Summary

BC Parks is responsible for the designation, management, and conservation of a system of ecological reserves, provincial parks and recreation areas located throughout the province. British Columbia's parks and protected areas contain nationally and internationally significant natural and cultural features and outdoor experiences.
In this position you will represent the program area in the ongoing implementation, enhancement and maintenance of an asset management application (with spatial data) that meets current and future business needs. The Capital Asset Technician is responsible for supporting the improvement of Capital Asset management practices in BC Parks, including providing technical application support, delivering staff training, reviewing and verifying the accuracy of data from across the Province, and supporting long-term capital planning and investment decisions.
Job Requirements:
Education
  • Degree in a related field and 6 months related experience; or, a diploma in the related field and 1 year related experience; or, certification from a recognized institution in the related field and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related Education fields may include: Data Science, Computer Science, GIS, Statistics, Business Administration, or other relevant specialty degrees as designated by program requirements.
Related experience includes the following:
  • Experience working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Experience with business applications including implementation planning and testing, security and the development of analytical reports.
  • Experience delivering spatial analysis projects in support of client's business needs.
  • Experience presenting information and/or delivering training sessions.

Provisos:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid British Columbia Class 5 driver's licence.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is for one (1) permanent opportunity.
