BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests (MOF). Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province's annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization. Its goal is to provide credible representative price and cost benchmark data for the Market Pricing System through auctions of timber harvested from British Columbia's public land. BCTS operations are guided by three overarching principles, forest sector safety, reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and sustainable forest management.

The Senior Lean & Project Management Specialist manages large scale projects (medium to long term) with significant internal and external impacts, a range of internal and external stakeholders and significant assigned resources. Accountable for defining and controlling all project activities to ensure delivery within scope, schedule, budget and specified quality.
The Senior Specialist is a provincial expert on the theories, disciplines and tools associated with Lean and Project Management, BC Timber Sales Teams, and safety.
The position is critical to BC Timber Sales' long term success and its key outcome of People and Organizational Excellence. The position's work directly supports the key business principle of "Forest Sector Safety" and business goal of "A high performing organization with skilled, motivated, and proud people" and their related objectives of: Safe BCTS practices and worksites; Improving safety in the forest sector; Excellence in operations, practices and processes; and, Excellence in people.

Job Requirements:
  • Degree in business administration, public administration, management sciences, natural resources or equivalent.
  • Must be qualified to complete Project Management Professional Designation or Certified Associate in Project Management within 6 months of commencement of position.
  • Experience in facilitation and organizational development/learning.
  • Experience coordinating and leading diverse work groups.
  • Experience independently managing projects.
  • Experience in directing the work of contracted and staff resources.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
  • Project management training and/or experience.
  • Completed Project Management Professional Designation or Certified Associate in Project Management.

Provisos:
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

About this Position:
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
