Job description

Join our dynamic team in the Kootenays as a Contractor performing ADT Hardwired installations & Repairs! We are seeking an experienced professional who can expertly handle legacy/ADT/hardwired prewiring, installation, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and maintenance tasks related to alarm systems, door/access control systems, public address/intercom systems, and CCTV systems.

Key Responsibilities: As a vital member of our team, you will:

  • Execute the technical aspects of single or multiple projects with varying timelines and skillsets.
  • Conduct prewiring, installation, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and maintenance activities for alarm systems, door/access control systems, public address/intercom systems, and CCTV systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair existing systems.
  • Generate accurate and detailed reports for customers and Worldwide.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.

Key Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Other Requirements: The successful candidate should possess expertise in:

  • IP and Analog Camera Systems: DVR’s, NVR’s, analog cameras (TVI, CVI, etc.), IP cameras, network switches, routers, patch panels, surge protection & UPS’s, cabling, and programming (conduit experience preferred).
  • Access Control Systems: Card readers, electric locking hardware, request-to-exit devices, keypads, access door controllers, reader interfaces, I/O interfaces, door contacts, system software, and cabling (conduit experience preferred).
  • Intruder Alarm Systems: Alarm panels, keypads, door contacts, motion detectors, glass break sensors, sirens, cabling, programming, and connection to central stations.
  • Knowledge of building codes, especially fire and electrical codes.
  • Solid programming skills with the ability to make changes in the field via laptop computer, keypad, or local programmer.
  • Proficiency in using standard or specialized test instruments and hand tools.
  • Capability to obtain and pass a Criminal Record Check as required.
  • Ontario G class driver’s license, clean driving record, and a secure place to park the company vehicle at home overnight.

What we are looking for: We seek candidates with:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Experience with hardwired/legacy Security Systems.
  • Experience working at heights.
  • Familiarity with the use of everyday hand tools.
  • Computer hardware and software knowledge.
  • Prior customer service background and strong sales abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Maintained valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform work safely in all conditions, indoor and outdoor.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Physical capability for the job, including carrying and erecting a 60lbs ladder and climbing ladders multiple times a day.
  • Positive, solutions-based attitude with a customer-centric approach to handling difficult situations.
  • Availability to work one weekend and one evening shift (available until 7 pm) per week.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
  • Only applicants currently located in Canada will be considered.
