About the BCLDB:

The LDB is one of two branches of government responsible for the cannabis and liquor industry of B.C. We operate the wholesale distribution of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores.

Corporate Operations at the BCLDB includes our Corporate Audit, Corporate Loss Prevention, Construction and Facilities and Leasing departments. Construction and Facilities department manages all activities related to the construction, renovation, and facilities management of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centres, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Leasing department manages all activities related to leasing of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centres, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Corporate Loss Prevention department ensures the security of all BCLDB assets through physical security management as well as an investigative team. Corporate Audit strives to be a strategic partner in the BCLDB by providing advisory, risk and assurance services.
About this role:
Under the direction of the Trades Supervisor, the Security Systems Technician provides the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) with technical security support, including the Head Office complex, four distribution centres (Burnaby, Kamloops, Delta & Richmond) as well as BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores throughout the province.
The Security Systems Technician is one of six positions that report directly to the Trades Supervisor, Technical Security. The position is responsible for supporting the installation, operation, implementation, fabrication and troubleshooting of all technical services, which provides a safeguard to Branch assets, employees, contractors, customers and business partners. The LDB serves approximately 43 million customers annually, and it is within this context, the Corporate Loss Prevention Department functions as an integral facet of Branch operations, with a high degree of visibility throughout the organization.
A criminal record check is required.
Ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Position requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years related trade person experience in a technical security field.

Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last 10 years and include the following:
  • Experience with Security Systems, electronic panels, sensors, emergency lighting and/or other security hardware.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Successful completion of the Security Alarm Trade Qualification (SATQ).
  • Experience working with digital CCTV systems, cameras and recording equipment.
  • Experience working with electronics and/or those that have an electrical designation such as:
  • ICT Certification.
  • Vigil CCTV
  • SA SFR.
  • Class C-R FSR - Low Energy.
