The ideal applicant shall possess:
- Knowledge and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health concerns, and behaviors
- An understanding of the needs and barriers faced by individuals with various abilities
- Command of English language with ability to communicate effectively and complete daily documentation
- Ability to understand and follow health care plans, personal protocols, schedules, and activities
- Ability to follow policies and procedures, including health and safety policies
- Ability to offer physical assistance such as personal care/hygiene for all genders
- An understanding of the difference between creating independence vs. creating dependence
- Competence to safely accompany/transport individuals to appointments and activities in the community
- Knowledge and experience with community resources, integration, and teaching life skills
- The physical ability to perform all the duties required of the position
Job Requirements include:
- Class 4 or 5 BC Driver’s License required and clean driver’s abstract (Required)
- Minimum of 1-year experience (or combination of education and experience)
- COVID-19 Vaccination (2-doses required)
- Criminal Record Check (Required)
- Hub Clearance
- Negative TB test
- First Aid and CPR
- MANDT Certificate
- Food Safe Certificate
- Other requirements that may be specific to the individual served.
NOTE: If you do not have all of the certifications indicated above, but demonstrate a good fit for the position, Strive may be able to assist you to acquire some of these requirements.
