Our expectations

Reporting to the Manager, Sustainable Development, the Advisor, Sustainable Development will participate in the implementation and success of the Sustainable Development strategy at RONA inc. The incumbent will coordinate the implementation of the organization’s action plan for waste management and collaborate on the implementation of the energy efficiency strategy.

Your role

  • Advise internal teams on improving waste management performance and regulatory compliance
  • Measure and analyze material production, and make recommendations to achieve objectives
  • Develop, coordinate and support the implementation of reuse and recycling programs in stores as well as in administrative and distribution centres
  • Manage product take-back programs in store (i.e., paint, batteries, and light bulbs)
  • Work in collaboration with national partners to ensure services are maintained and improved
  • Advise and support internal teams in reducing GHG emissions
  • Calculate greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption
  • Contribute to the Sustainable Development report and to accountability
  • Take part in various committees to ensure the maintenance and sharing of knowledge

The qualifications we are looking for

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a company or an institution
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (a master’s degree in environmental studies will be considered an asset)
  • Ability to organize work, manage a number of priorities, and complete several projects simultaneously
  • Strong ability to generate collaboration and commitment
  • Team spirit, interpersonal skills, and great rigour
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Our Hybrid Workplace Policy establishes that associates need to have a reliable transportation to and from our corporate head office located in Boucherville (Quebec), to come to the office on a regular basis.
  • We require all our head office associates to be proficient in French, spoken and written.
