Reporting to the Assistant General Director - Strategic Support and Continuous Improvement, the jobholder is responsible for running all of the City’s activities related to the Ecological Transition and Sustainable Development. The jobholder must also provide operational and strategic support to the City Manager and municipal departments in the areas of the environment and Sustainable Development.
General responsibilities and goals:
• Play an advisory role with the municipal departments, in line with strategic directions and actions to be taken, to develop and strengthen environmental and Sustainable Development activities.
• Support, train and equip the City's various departments to increase climate resilience and promote the Ecological Transition of the municipal administration.
• Coordinate the activities of the Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Committee.
• Coordinate the establishment and deployment of various programs related to his or her field of activity.
• Incorporate the principles of Sustainable Development into all of the City’s activities.
• Work with collaborators who have complementary expertise, in particular from the fields of engineering, energy efficiency, raw material and waste management, funding or subsidy programs, quantification of environmental impacts, product life-cycle analysis, and communications, as well as from government agencies and other regional socio-economic organizations.
• Participate in environmental information and awareness campaigns aimed at citizens.
• Participate in the revision of City policies and programs, action plans or by-laws to integrate the principles of Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition;
• Represent the City, as needed, before various municipal, provincial and federal bodies as well as internal or external committees.
• Monitor environmental and Sustainable Development matters, and disseminate and coordinate the transfer of information to various internal and external stakeholders.
• Elaborate and implement control measures designed to optimize ways of doing things in the areas of the environment and Sustainable Development.
• Establish and follow-up on performance indicators for activities under his or her responsibility.
• Perform all other related tasks, upon request.
Schedule:
35 hours per week
Occasional availability evenings and/or weekends
