Afternoon/Evening Equine & Animal Care Attendant

Small-scale hunter/jumper breeding operation and rescue facility looking for a person to join us full-time. This is not an entry position and will be commensurate with experience. Applicants need to be reliable and self-starting and must be willing to help out where needed on the farm. The particular shift we are hiring for typically runs from 4-11pm however shift times and lengths vary depending on tasks to be completed.

Equine Duties and Responsibilities:

• Horse care including but not excluding;
• Feeding & watering,
• Grooming,
• Blanketing,
• Bandaging,
• Oral medication,
• Daily temperature checks,
• and stall cleaning/maintenance
• General tidying

Other Responsibilities:

• Caring for a variety of animals ranging from livestock to domestic animals
• Facilitate grooming and administering oral and topical medication
• Follow established protocols and procedures for animal handling, feeding, and cleaning
• Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to supervisor
• Maintain accurate records of animal observations and treatments
• Assist with the handling and restraint of animals during procedures or examinations
• PM feeding and kennel care; ensure cleanliness and sanitation of animal housing areas and equipment
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of animals and staff

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with management
• Must be able to work proficiently while maintaining a positive attitude
• Must have a love for animals and a desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and carry out prescribed routines
• Good work ethic
• Industry experience

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $18 - 22 per hour depending on experience

Schedule:

• 6-10 hour shifts
• Maximum of 44 hours per week
• Predominately Wednesday to Sunday

Salary: $17.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 44 per week
