What can I expect to do in this role?

In this challenging role, you will:
  • Provide technical services necessary to install, operate, calibrate and maintain air quality, meteorological instrumentation and telemetry equipment in support of abatement and monitoring programs;
  • Service and repair instruments, conduct site specific studies and special surveys;
  • Conduct audit/assessments of a wide variety of discrete and continuous Air Monitoring instruments owned/operated by industry, including assessments of proper siting, operation and calibration including conducting multi point calibration assessments;
  • Site and operate discrete and continuous Air Monitoring and other equipment supporting air quality assessments, review and validate data generated by Industry and Ministry instruments; maintain Ministry regional telemetry systems;
  • Install, service, calibrate and maintain in a state of readiness for deployment, equipment, for response to environmental incidents;
  • Procure equipment necessary for the delivery of the air unit programs and maintain accurate equipment inventories.

NOTE: Please be advised that temporary relocation living expenses will not be offered.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.


Technical Knowledge:

  • You have demonstrated knowledge and technical skills in all aspects of operations, maintenance, calibration and repair of delicate Air Monitoring and meteorological instrumentation.
  • You have knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits and telemetry technology for repair of delicate Air Monitoring equipment to the component and circuit boards level as well as safe practices for working with electrical circuitry and air pollution monitoring technologies.
  • You have or can develop a working knowledge of environmental legislation pertaining to air quality and industrial air pollution control.
  • You have knowledge and experience working with computer hardware/software, data loggers and networks, including specialized custom software; computer and software application skills to support data analysis, evaluation and report preparation activities maintain and trouble-shoot air data equipment, QA/QC and storage of data, and work within a Microsoft environment.


Essential Skills:

  • You have proven analytical and evaluation skills to schedule field operations, provide sound recommendations, establish monitoring sites and instrument installations, and trouble-shoot Air Monitoring issues.
  • You have the ability to conduct audit and assessments of the operation of Industry operated Air Monitoring instruments and address audit program issues
  • You have organizational skills to maintain detailed records of field operations, procurement management, inspection notes and audit findings
  • You have demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, provide support to district staff, work as part of the technical support air team and prepare technical reports
