Position Summary

In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, and as directed by the Regional Manager Student Practice Education, this position provides inter-professional coordination, mentorship and education support within the Student Practice Education portfolio throughout Northern Health, which includes student placements, the Employed Student Nurse (ESNs) program, the New Graduate Transition program, and Specialty Education. In collaboration with Education & Development team, Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs), Clinical Leads and operational leadership, the Allied Health LeadStudent Practice Education is responsible for leading, planning, developing and facilitating organization-wide education support for Allied Health students, acting as liaison for cultivating environments of mutual collaboration between educational institutions, Northern Health (NH) practice environments and administrative departments, with the ultimate goal of supporting onboarding/orientation and education programs for Allied Health practicum students and new graduates. The position serves as an inter-professional resource for Student Practice, supports the development of preceptor/mentorship training programs for NH staff, and coordinates in-service programs aimed to meet the unique education needs of Allied Health students and new graduates.
Starting salary will be approximately from $86,398 to $107,997 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualfications
•Graduation from recognized post-secondary program and current registration as an Allied Health professional.
•Preference for Master's level education.
•Minimum four years' practice experience and two years' formal experience in adult teaching/learning and curriculum development;
•Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
•Teaching: Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being as well as program highlights.
•Knowledge Integration: Using factual information, prior learning and basic principles and procedures to support decisions and actions with relevant research based evidence. Integrates best practice from nursing and other health-related disciplines and the humanities, arts and sciences disciplines into professional practice.
•Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using oral, written and computer communication.
•Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
•Management: Manages time and resources, implementing activities to promote cooperation among relevant others, supervising responsibilities of others, collaboration across disciplines and related activities.
•Human Caring & Relationship Centred practice: Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
•Leadership: Promotes staff morale, cooperation, assertiveness and risk-taking, creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
•Assessment & Intervention: Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing education assessments and provide education through various learning methods.
•Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology.
•Ability and willingness to travel to various locations throughout Northern Health.
•Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
