A Day in the Life…

The Alumni Relations Officer works to create, implement and facilitate specialized programs, services, events, and initiatives that engage alumni in the life of the University to build positive relationships with alumni and friends. The incumbent will also conceive, plan, implement and staff Alumni events, recruit volunteers and conduct membership solicitation projects.

As the Alumni Relations Officer, you will:

  • Provide strategic oversight and support with alumni engagement programs, services and events;
  • Develop, coordinate and evaluate programs and projects to promote Alumni Relations and to connect alumni through academic and other channels;
  • Manage events and programs that foster good will and positive public relations including professional development and networking initiatives, leadership engagement and community partnerships;
  • Execute an engagement strategy to increase alumni partnerships and attendance with a variety of activities and programming;
  • Increase alumni involvement and participation in the life of the University through a variety of engagement efforts and events;
  • Track, monitor and analyze the effectiveness and progress of programs and incorporate improvements into future initiatives;
  • Create University-community partnerships by mobilizing knowledge of alumni events, programs and services, encouraging continued involvement through group participation and support;
  • Assist in the development, coordination and implementation of affinity/class reunion, regional/corporate events and giving programs;
  • Work with student facing programs and groups to cultivate a commitment to Brock following graduation;
  • Supervise and train student employees, student volunteers, and/or co-op students, as appropriate.
  • What you need to Succeed…
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Communications, Marketing, Sociology, Psychology, or Education) or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 3-5 years of experience with volunteer management, relationship management, and event management;
  • Knowledge of the alumni and development industry and best practices in the Alumni Relations field to continuously enhance Brock’s alumni outreach efforts;
  • Knowledge of best practices for working with volunteers and volunteer committee governance;
  • Working knowledge of social networking sites and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Power Point;
  • Ability to conduct survey analysis, database management, and statistical analysis to measure and customize events and initiatives;
  • Professionalism and adherence to policies and procedures, best practices, confidentiality, and other legal requirements;
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to develop credibility and collegiality with individuals and maintain an ongoing collegial relationship;
  • Strong judgement, analytical, and problem solving skills;
  • Maintain highest level of accuracy and alertness for decisions made, information given, materials processed, particularly under strict deadlines.

Preferred or Asset Skills…

  • Event management certification or postsecondary event management courses

Salary and Benefit Information

  • Job Grade L, Salary Scale: $62,580-$107,280*;
  • Target Hiring Range: $62,580-$70,000;
  • This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.

*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
