A Day in the Life…
Reporting to the Associate Director, Digital and Marketing, the Social Media Manager is responsible for leading the University’s Social Media strategy by developing relevant social and digital content experiences that align with the University’s brand, marketing plans and strategic priorities. The incumbent implements all aspects of digital campaigns, working with partners to aid in the production, planning and release of context and campaigns. The Social Media Manager also provides subject matter expertise, advising and support in the growth of establishing an impactful online presence, and tracks and measures the performance of the University's Social Media channels and campaigns.
As the Social Media Manager, you will:
- Lead the development and maintenance of Brock’s Social Media sites and channels, including developing and posting content;
- Produce digital assets, including but not limited to graphics, animations, interactive media, video and post-production, for use on digital/social platforms;
- Attend assigned events to create, capture, and broadcast content documenting events, successes, educational, and entertainment stories;
- Monitor University channels, encourage user discussions on topics, and respond to or direct queries,
- Escalate critical issues and coordinate with colleagues and emergency response staff in crisis situations;
- Leverage relevant Social Media channels and allocated budget to implement & optimize paid and organic campaigns in support of brand enhancement, student recruitment, student engagement, and key University strategic priorities;
- Identify other opportunities to enhance brand and engage, recruit, and retain students using digital communications;
- Measure, track and analyze engagement and performance of the University's Social Media channels and campaigns, and that of its direct competitors;
- Research potential topics of focus for Social Media and content marketing based on trends, competitive activity, new technologies and audience behaviours;
- Supervise, direct and mentor a team of Digital Content Assistants who assist with content creation, moderation, and posting for the University's primary Social Media channels;
- Work with interns, key influencers and student groups to identify effective trends and platforms, and aid in the production and release of content and digital campaigns to engage with both current and prospective students.
What you need to Succeed…
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in multi-media, web design, marketing, communications, or a related field;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Social Media management;
- A minimum of two (2) years experience providing leadership and/or advising in Social Media management capacity;
- Creative design skills, including the ability to develop or adapt photography, video, and marketing communications materials for a digital environment;
- Advanced knowledge of Social Media management and listening tools, and data analytics platforms;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Social Media platforms;
- Understanding of University brand standards;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Solid relationship building skills with the ability to exercise discretion, diplomacy and tact when dealing with stakeholders;
- Ability to research and stay abreast of current and emerging trends in digital communications.
Salary and Benefit Information
- Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($62,580-$107,280)*;
- Target Hiring Range: $62,580-$70,000;
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits including tuition waiver.
*The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
