We’re seeking a creative and strategic storyteller to lead our content marketing efforts. As the Content Marketing Manager, you’ll define and execute content strategies, including Social Media and search engine optimization (SEO). Your role involves collaborating with a cross-functional team to create engaging content, maintain our brand voice, and help set up the organization for growth.
You’re passionate engaging, growing and educating audiences with working knowledge of building short and long-form content across digital channels.

Key Responsibilities
- KPIs: Drive traffic, engagement and lead generation for Meridian to support favourability and business growth across B2C and B2B markets.
- Collaborate: Partner with Communications and other business units to create a content strategy aligned with key business goals, and own the annual content calendar, gathering input from cross-functional teams.
- Channel Consideration: Address content needs across various channels (blog, Social Media, app, web, email, in-branch, SEO/SEM).
- Member Stories: Manage the Member Story process, showcasing Meridian’s brand attributes with respect to our Members.
- Creative Collaboration: Brief internal creative teams and work with external production teams to capture content.
- AI Tools: Leverage AI tools (Canva, CoPilot) for creative content assembly and asset management.
- Short-Form Focus: Partner with the Digital team to create short-form content for financial confidence.
- Notification System: Implement a system to notify the organization of new content availability.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Regularly analyze publishing results and establish benchmarks for performance improvement.
Social Media:
- Strategic Direction: Define the organic Social Media strategy, identify new channel opportunities and content formats.
- Program Development: Develop campaigns aligned with engagement targets, follower growth, and web traffic goals.
- Team Coordination: Oversee end-to-end execution by your team, ensuring consistent voice across channels in collaboration with the Brand and Creative team.
- Monitoring and Support: Monitor engagement and provide recommendations on future tactics, content and testing opportunities.
- Boosting: Guide your team on what content to boost, and ensure we are capitalizing on the most engaging pieces.
- Social listening and community engagement across all channels (Facebook, Instagram, X / Twitter, YouTube, and Tiktok).
Search Engine Optimization
- SEO Strategy Oversight: Oversee the development and execution of the SEO strategy.
- Keyword Research Support: Guide keyword research to align with content strategy, leveraging tools like SEMRush.
- Local and Branch SEO Supervision: Monitor local search and branch SEO strategy, utilizing Google and Apple business listings and relevant tools.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze on-page performance data using GA4 and other tools for lead generation.
- Review Website Management: Maintain positive relationships with review websites to enhance Meridian’s visibility and manage our online reputation (Google Listings).
- Content Optimization Training Coordination: Coordinate training for content creators across Marketing and Communications teams to optimize content for SEO.
Resource Management
- Own content, Social Media and SEO budgets.
- Manage a small team of two (2) Social Media and SEO specialists. Provide guidance and support and nurture their growth.
- Several stakeholders across the organization including Communications, ESG, Retail and Wealth and Business Banking.
- The internal Creative team and Marketing team.
- External content and creative agencies, content producers and others as required.
What you can bring to Meridian:
- 5+ years of proven storytelling experience in a Content Marketing Manager role.
- Hands-on expertise with generative AI tools (Canva, CoPilot, Bing Chat).
- Familiarity with digital asset management platforms and workflow tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience using web-based analytics tools (e.g., GA4) and Social Media applications (Hootsuite, Meta, TikTok, Google).
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices and web optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop content from concept to publication.
- Deep awareness of internet culture, trends, memes, and viral content.
- Skill in adapting brand voice across various formats.
- Proficient in collaborating with external stakeholders (influencers, brand partners, customers).
- Effective decision-maker who navigates ambiguity and embraces change.
- Knowledge of the Financial Industry is an asset.
- Understanding of photography, videography, and editing applications an asset.
Office Location: 3330 Bloor Street West, Toronto OR 75 Corporate Park Drive, St. Catharines.
