Power Workers’ Union Hiring Hall Opportunity
Currently, the Power Workers’ Union Hiring Hall has opportunities available for Appendix A staff to work on site in the Nuclear Security Officer role. Appendix A staff for Bruce Power are hired by the Power Workers’ Union.
Nuclear Security Officers perform security activities, on a shift basis, at a Nuclear Generating Station, or other Bruce Power site, as prescribed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety and Control Act and/or regulation, in accordance with oral and written instructions, company and site-specific policies and procedures and applicable legislation. Perform Security and Emergency Services dispatch duties for Bruce Power site.
Education and Experience:
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through completion of a Grade XII education in a secondary school or equivalent plus a minimum of one year of further concentrated study in a relevant field such as, but not limited to, policing and law enforcement, military, cyber-security, criminology, sociology, etc.
OR
Grade XII education or equivalent and 2 years of experience in a relevant field, such as, but not limited to, policing and law enforcement, military, cyber security, criminology, sociology, etc.
Successful applicant(s) MUST provide copies of the following at the time of their online application:
  • Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum one-year further concentrated study in a relevant field (if applicable)
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License.

Selection to this role requires successfully meeting the standard on the following:
  • Fitness testing based on the Canadian Nuclear Security Fitness Test
  • Written Aptitude Test
  • Competency-based Interview
  • Past performance and suitability for the position
  • Psychological Testing
  • Medical Assessment
  • Obtain Bruce Power Level II Security Clearance
In accordance with applicable legislation or company policy, Personal Protective Equipment may be required for this position.
Please be advised the Nuclear Security Officer position is subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy/procedure.
