An exciting opportunity exists for Approvals Coordinators within the Community Planning business unit. These positions have the potential to act as a platform for tremendous personal and professional growth. The successful applicant will support a DART team by chairing DART meetings and providing leadership, mentoring, coaching, process monitoring, process improvement, conflict resolution and support across the land development continuum. Primary duties include:

  • Support the day-to-day operations of DART supporting a multi-disciplinary team in reviewing complex development proposals.

  • Identify opportunities to improve business practices.

  • Provide change leadership and validate improvement initiatives.

  • Provide leadership to DART teams, team members, and DART Coordinators.

  • Monitor performance and behaviours at DART team meetings.

  • Problem solve and facilitate resolution on specific applications/issues by working with customers, departments, and team members.

  • Candidates for this role must be ambassadors, advocates, and exemplify The City of Calgary¿s 4 Cs of culture: Character, Competence, Commitment and Collaboration.

 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Engineering, Urban Planning or an Urban Planning related degree with at least 5 years of experience. OR;

  • A completed 2-year diploma plus 8 years of experience in Urban Planning, Municipal Engineering or Transportation Planning.

  • Experience working within DART is required for this role.

  • The successful applicant must have an understanding of planning application processes as well as governing legislation and policies.

  • Process monitoring and Business Process Management (BPM) will be considered as assets but not strictly required.

  • The applicant must possess analytical, problem solving and communication skills. A solution-oriented attitude is essential. Success in this position requires a high level of planning, reasoning and organization.

Compensation: Level E $80,640 - 121,760 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
