Fusion Youth Activity and Technology Centre

Invites applications for the position of:

Arts Program Instructor
Full-Time 1 year, renewable contract (35 hours/week)


The Fusion Youth Centre is currently seeking a dynamic and talented artist who is passionate
about art and its potential for positively impacting the lives of youth through engaging and
interactive programming.
Joining Fusion’s exceptional team, the Arts Program Instructor will create, assess, and

implement youth-targeted artistic programming and activities. The incumbent will be expected to

work flexible hours (evenings and weekends Tuesday to Saturday) and must demonstrate an

ability to lead and mentor youth participants.

Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for:

Creating, implementing and assessing engaging and innovative youth-targeted arts
programming, activities and special events.

Compiling and preparing various daily and ad-hoc reports and statistics.

Undertaking recruitment and retention activities related to programming participation.

Supervising, coaching, and mentoring participating youth.

Ensuring the safety and security of all participants; adhering to and enforcing health and
safety policies and procedures and reacting quickly and decisively to all issues that
arise.

Assisting with the facilitation of various other Fusion programs and special events.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate is passionate about arts and is capable of igniting a similar passion in youth
through engaging and relevant programming and special events. The preferred candidate
should consider themselves to be a skilled and versatile artist; able to develop and implement
Arts Programming based on youth interests and trends and using a variety of mediums.
Candidates should also possess:

A Degree or Diploma in Visual Arts, Art Fundamentals, Social Development Studies,
Child and Youth Worker or other related area of study OR an equivalent combination of
previous experience and education.

Previous experience and demonstrated aptitude for working with and leading youth ages
10-18.

Previous experience in teaching and organizing arts and culture-related activities.


Qualified applicants will be requested to present a portfolio of work at the interview stage
of the recruitment process.
Wage

Starting from $19.32 per hour


Please note; the successful applicant will be required to obtain a Police and Vulnerable Sector
Check prior to an offer of employment and must possess or be willing to obtain CPR and
Standard First Aid certification.
