Want the unique experience of accelerating growth of a dynamic as well as increasingly visible and impactful part of RONA? We are looking for an exceptional individual who will play a key role in driving the long-term revenue and profit growth of RONA’s online businesses.

The Digital, Merchandiser , will own all direct-fulfillment programs, online integration of core merchandising strategies, and optimization of product assortments to create customer focused, omni-channel experiences. Responsibilities include driving omni-channel sales and improving customer satisfaction.

Reporting to the Manager, Online Merchandising, this role will work cross-functionally, and have financial accountability, including the P&L.

Your role

  • Assume responsibility for online product assortment for specific merchandising divisions.
  • Drive online sales and margin, increase AOV, through a consistent customer experience.
  • Support the Merchandising teams and execute tasks to deliver on strategic objectives.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with external vendors, working closely with Senior Merchants and Online Specialists
  • In collaboration with the Online team and Core Merchants, define roadmaps for online product assortments and category experience initiatives.
  • Conduct customer and competitor research to build a deep understanding of best-in-class category merchandising.
  • Build knowledge of categories, and determine how customers shop the categories through extensive online research.
  • Support data analysis to drive business through regular reporting and research identifying areas of opportunities in line with product and category strategies.
  • Partner with their leader and cross-functional partners to support website improvement initiatives.
  • Look for opportunities to improve website content, functions, existing processes, and partner with the broader business to achieve this.
  • Ensure the search and navigation online of defined categories are set correctly to facilitate product finding by the customers.
  • Collaborate with the Online team for on-site optimizations such as product recommendations, upselling/cross-selling opportunities, and search improvements.
  • Oversee pricing strategy for Online Exclusive assortment.
  • Develop merchandising plans based on customer insights, brand strategy, e-commerce goals, and initiatives with the goal of improving sales, site conversion, average order size, UX, and enhancing product discovery and content.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team and vendors to define and execute sales and promotional plans.
  • Generate and analyze reports to track sales, conversions, bounce rates, AOV, Add to Cart, and Out of stock and report on key findings.
  • Partner with the Category Experience team reviewing online experience including navigation, search optimization, category, and product page updates, ensuring the implementation of best practices.
  • Execute the divisional merchandising strategy for Online Exclusive business; understand key business drivers, competitive landscape, and customer identification/acquisition.

The qualifications we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BCom) or similar
  • Proven working experience (at least 3 years) in online merchandising or a similar role including Digital Marketing, Merchandising, Category Management or CX functions; preferably in a retail or e-commerce environment.
  • High analytical skills, including- knowledge of analytical tools to measure performance, interpret findings, determine improvements, and makes recommendations to attain sales objectives and improve conversion.
  • Experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google or Adobe Analytics) (preferred)
  • Ability to multitask effectively.
  • Experience working with multiple vendors.
  • Skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Cross-functional experience and ability to lead directly and through influence.
  • Experience with P&L responsibility (preferred)
  • Driven, self-starter, problem-solver attitude, with the ability to perform in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to quickly bring clarity and define path forward in complex situations.
