Assistant Manager - Operations
Northspan Explorations Ltd. is a contract drilling company based in Kelowna, British Columbia. We specialize in exploration drilling using our light-weight reverse circulation drills. We drill for both major and junior mining companies in diverse environments across North America. Our aim is to provide our clients with a high-quality product in a safe and sustainable manner. We are currently looking for a full-time Assistant Manager-Operations to join us at our headquarters in Kelowna, BC.
The successful candidate will have a safety-first attitude, be mechanically inclined and have a willingness to learn on the job.
Qualifications:
Experience or training in any of the following areas will greatly benefit a candidate: Hydraulics, Air compressors, Heavy duty mechanics, Drilling, Workplace Safety, Light electrical, Supply management and Project management.

The duties of the Assistant Manager-Operations include:
-Manage and maintain Northspan’s fleet of drilling equipment and vehicles to ensure that assets are prepared and ready for quick and safe deployment. Develop systems for documenting and tracking equipment use and maintenance.
- Work with Company management to plan projects, determine crew requirements and hire workers. Maintain a healthy roster of reliable and available crew resources.
-Together with management, co-ordinate the company’s work on our different projects. Plan and execute mobilization and demobilization to and from projects. Set, monitor, and review the crew workload and rotation schedule. Ensure crews have sufficient time and ability to execute projects safely, in accordance with regulations, and on time.
-As required, act as a foreman to supervise field personnel and maintain the Company’s safety standards.
-Actively assist in the research and development of safe new drilling technology/procedures.
-Ensure that Northspan remains in compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
Personal requirements:
-Must be drug-free and consent to pre-employment and annual drug tests
-Must be computer-literate and able to communicate (read/write/speak) effectively in English
-Have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
-Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada and be legally allowed to work in Canada
Job location:
The job location will primarily be at Northspan’s headquarters in Kelowna, BC with, sometimes international, business travel and fieldwork as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

- Kelowna, BC V1V 2M1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
