The successful candidate will possess a clear vision for student learning, a commitment to collaborative leadership, a solid understanding of school improvement processes, and sensitivity to community needs.
An Assistant Principal is required at F.P. Walshe High School, located in Fort Macleod, Alberta, a grades 6-12 school with approximately 400 students. The desired qualifications include the following:
Master’s Degree (or in process)
Permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate, or eligibly for same
Commitment to establishing positive working relationships with parents and community partners
Willingness to explore innovative approaches to learning
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
An understanding of and a commitment to an inclusive learning environment
Experience and/or specialized coursework in Learning Support
The capacity to provide collaborative leadership in an environment of change
Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of flexibility
A student centered approach to learning
In depth knowledge of and experience with current assessment practices
An understanding of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Knowledge and experience with cultural background and traditions of First Nations Students
Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position will begin on August 26, 2024.
