What is the opportunity?

Based in Glasgow, this role will have dual responsibilities, supporting the UK Banking and Credit product teams in enhancing the existing RBC Wealth Management product offering, and providing Product expertise to the client facing advisors supporting key initiatives as we seek to grow Wealth Management Europe (“WME”).

These propositions and experiences will be aligned and integrated with the wider UK Wealth Proposition strategy. Consequently, you will a key contributor to the strategy and roadmap for our growth ambitions in the UK and influence the evolution of the wider UK Wealth proposition strategy.

You will be a key interface between client facing advisors and the Product teams. You will work with the respective Regional Managing Director and Heads of Offices, the Head of Product Propositions, Group Risk Management and the senior leadership team to assess clients’ product requirements, to provide insight into market trends, support the manufacture of product solutions and to balance these needs with the internal revenue and return benchmarks.

You will be responsible for working with Finance and Group Risk Management to develop tracking, reporting and governance infrastructure for all non-standard pricing, in particular related to banking products.

What will you do?

Relationships

  • Work closely with regional Sales teams, Product teams and other key RBC partners in identifying, structuring, analyzing, delivering and monitoring product solutions, with significant complexity. As required, work with clients to understand their lending, banking, and general Wealth Management needs.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between teams including client facing advisors, Investment Products, and broader Product teams locally and globally.
  • Be a culture carrier across Sales and Product for all aspects of the Leadership Model. 

Strategic Alignment

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improved business operations, partnerships, and client satisfaction. Ensure continued alignment of the credit portfolio with Wealth Management business and risk strategies and risk policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to strategy development.  Work with leadership across Global Products and Strategy team to contribute to the growth/development of the Banking & Credit book.
  • Regularly assess the range of Banking & Credit solutions required by clients and respond to the needs of clients and Sales team to ensure a competitive and compelling proposition.

Commerciality

  • Management of risk/reward, pricing of transactions and profitability of Banking and Credit products within Wealth Management/geographical target parameters.
  • Maintains a strong awareness of local and regional competitive market, industry developments in products and economic conditions.

Policy & Training

  • Assist with the development of policy and products to meet the needs of clients and the business.
  • Ensure appropriate training and development is available for Sales staff in region and other parts of RBC as necessary.
  • Has awareness of key regulatory requirements and supports product adherence to market expectations, e.g. Consumer Duty.

Projects

  • Drive initiatives and actively participate as a SME to facilitate creation, testing and implementation of new technology which has a direct impact on the Product team. Support as required to Product team and development/maintenance of products.

What do you need to succeed?


Must-have

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of the UK (and adjacent markets) Mass Affluent product and services landscape, including Current Accounts, Savings, Credit and other ancillary Banking Services such as FX, Cards, Overdrafts.
  • Are passionate about customers and customer insight and have a demonstrable track record of applying customer insight to solve business problems
  • Proven track record of developing customer value propositions and conversant with associated capabilities such as customer insight generation, competitor analyses, segmentation, pricing etc.
  • Strong risk assessment/ credit skills
  • Must have, or will obtain Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice
  • Able to be agile, take initiative and work in a 'start-up' mind-set and happy to work with, and adapt to, evolving priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional investigative skills and accomplished problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Wide knowledge of and adherence to compliance and regulatory standards
  • Effective influencer and ability to collaborate with and manage a wide group of stakeholders across the RBC Group

Nice-to-have

  • Keen interest in innovation, managing and launching digital/digital-first Banking propositions in the UK/other relevant markets and excited about developing digital-first propositions to solve customer problems
  • Conversant with economics, commercial and regulatory parameters and governance frameworks associated with manufacturing and distribution of Banking products and services in the UK.
  • Take initiative and not hesitant to challenge the status quo and traditional ways of thinking
