The Rotman MBA helps talented professionals to push their limits, expand their creativity, and develop their leadership and decision-making skills to their career to the next level. The Office of Student Engagement supports these MBA students through offering a holistic range of activities designed to encourage personal and professional development that include Student Advising, Mental Health and Wellness and Student Engagement.
Reporting to the Director, Office of Student Engagement the Associate Director, Office of Student Engagement, plays a key managerial role in the achievement of overall Rotman Full Time and Morning and Evening MBA program goals. The Associate Director supports overall direction on academic advising for MBA students. With an understanding of Student development and learning, and advising for graduate student populations, the Associate Director, working closely with the Director, will be responsible for leading the academic advising strategy including the development and delivery of a strategic advising framework. The incumbent will be expected to play a lead role in the planning, delivery and evaluation of academic advising and support including strategic objectives, best practice processes, service promotion, performance indicators, analysis and development.
The Associate Director will also lead the design and delivery of dynamic and high impact services, resources, and events for all MBA students with an emphasis on proactive and inclusive interventions that support the current student experience.
The Associate Director will develop strong working relationships with academic and co-curricular partners at the Rotman School of Management to ensure the delivery and evaluation of academic advising and support to students. They will also assist the Director with the development of the Office of Student Engagement strategy, annual plans and reports, operation, and administration.
The Associate Director builds, leads and assumes responsibility for human resources and labour relations for their direct reports, including dispute resolution and compliance of collective agreements, including the strategic development and deliver of academic advising services.

I. EDUCATION:
A Master’s degree in student affairs, adult education, community development, or a related discipline is required or any equivalent combination of graduate-level education and experience.
II. EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of experience developing, managing, and evaluating student/client-focused programs, resources, events and services ideally in an educational environment across diverse populations. At least 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment, required. Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and execution. Proven experience developing, managing, and evaluating student/client-focused programs, services, and resources, including extensive program planning, with a focus on effective resource allocation and sustainability. Experience working with equity-deserving students, with a focus on intersectionality, and experience collaboratively developing programs, services, and resources to address their needs from an asset-based perspective. Experience managing projects in a complex environment, and that centre principles of equity and care. Experience building and/or scaling up complex programs that required working with multiple constituent groups (e.g., students, faculty, administrators, other educational institutions, employers, and community organizations, etc.).
 
III. SKILLS:
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, follow-through, management of multiple projects and attention to detail with proactive solutions focus. Strong networking and relationship management skills. Ability to collaborate with campus and community partners, and external partners. Advanced technology skills in data management & analysis, assessment & evaluation, and reporting. Excellent management and leadership skills, ability to mentor, ability to effectively lead and manage change, build strategic plans, and lead teams towards a strategic vision. Fosters a student-focused team environment of high performance, trust, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Strong client relationship building skills, workshop development and group facilitation skills. Expertise in educational program design and project planning, management, and assessment and evaluation, with a focus on effective resource allocation and sustainability. Project management skills and ability to direct large-scale projects, e.g. re-development of a website or selection of computer systems to completion in a fast-paced high volume environment. Superior oral and written communications skills including sound presentation, public speaking, workshop development and facilitation skills. Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem- solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and shared decision-making processes. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with commitment to the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment. Must be proficient with technology such as CRM management, social media, or other recruitment-related software and interested in identifying and adopting technological advances in the field. Well-developed computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation software (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.). Research, analytical and reporting skills related to current industry trends and best practices.
 
IV. OTHER:
Demonstrated investment in creating equity, equitable access, and inclusive engagement, including the ability to collaborate with Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) and disability-accessible student and campus partners. Strong ability to think analytically and strategically in a highly collaborative working environment; fostering productive working relationships is essential. Maintain expertise on current developments in higher education, making recommendations based on best practices and research. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Student development and learning. Ability to form strong advising, mentoring, and working relationships with students of diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of the intersection of Student development, identity, and mental health. A consummate professional, with demonstrated integrity, professional maturity, judgment, tact, diplomacy, and conflict resolution skills. Must be flexible and adaptable with a high level of initiative and results orientation, and the ability to foster that expectation in others. Must have demonstrated strengths motivating and leading staff and working as a team player with the capacity to handle a challenging workload in a calm, professional and proactive manner. Maintains a strong commitment to continuous professional learning and development. Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion access, and reconciliation.
This is a one year term contract position.
