The TELUS Taxation team provides critical expertise, consultation and counsel to the various entities and business groups, domestic and international, within TELUS. Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As an Associate International Taxation, Latin America, you will participate in the development of our international tax operating strategies to improve operational efficiencies, ensure compliance with tax laws, and manage International tax audits. You will monitor income tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing developments and implement changes to ensure timely compliance with new legislation.

Reporting to the Director, International Taxation, the Associate International Taxation, Latin America will support all aspects of tax planning and compliance with respect to income tax, indirect tax, and transfer pricing in Latin America ("LATAM").

Here's how

  • Assist in managing TELUS' tax risk while complying with our Tax Strategy, the tax laws and working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage corporate income tax and indirect tax filings in LATAM by collaborating and managing relationships with external in-country advisors Reviewing and analyzing corporate financial records and collaboration with the internal Finance team
  • Manage, with the assistance of with external in-country advisors, any tax authority reviews / audits
  • Assess tax implications of changes in tax laws in LATAM and coordinate with team members to ensure continuous compliance in all areas
  • Assistance with the tax aspect of M&A transactions and integration, including corporate reorganization.
  • Assistance with the tax aspect of treasury financing activities
  • Assist and collaborate with local finance teams to implement intercompany transactions
  • Assist with reviewing legal entity financial statements for conformity with transfer pricing policies
  • Gather information and data for intercompany transactions for transfer pricing documentation purposes

You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish languages)
  • Valued for your minimum 4 years of tax experience, e.g. income tax, indirect tax or transfer pricing; technical competence
  • Ability to analyze issues and transactions and identify various alternatives to problems, assessing their strengths and weaknesses and making practical recommendations aligned with corporate goals and initiatives while managing tax risk
  • Engaging communicator with strong verbal and written communications skills and
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact confidently with tax authorities, peers and advisors
  • Proactive planner with the ability to scope out tasks, set objectives and goals, develop schedules, prioritize multiple activities, anticipate roadblocks and manage multiple deliverables to meet deadlines and goals in a fast-paced, complex and ever-changing environment
  • Collaborative team member able to work well in a cross-functional team environment, creating and maintaining strong working relationships across the TELUS team with members from different functional areas and willingness to work toward required outcomes even when circumstances are challenging (e.g. tight deadlines, limited information or resources, etc.)
  • Unquestionable professionalism, integrity and ethics with a desire to learn and become a value-add team member, hands-on approach to problem-solving in a proactive and collaborative manner

Great-to-haves

  • University degree and CPA designation
  • Strong financial accounting knowledge
  • Understanding of transfer pricing concepts and application is desirable but not required
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and other common software applications
  • Partial completion of CPA Canada's In-depth Tax program is desirable but not required
