About the Opportunity
The Associate PhysicianHospitalist Medicine Service is a licensed (Associate Physician) physician employed by the Nova Scotia Health Authority to provide clinical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician. The Associate Physician will report directly to the Hospitalist Medical Service Program Director or his/her designate and indirectly to the Executive Medical Director through the Central Zone Director, Medical Affairs. Participation in the call schedule is required. 
Clinical Responsibilities
Under the supervision of an attending member of the Hospitalist Medicine Service
•    Functions as a member of the team in the Hospitalist Medicine Service at the level of a PGY1 or PGY2. Makes regular rounds with supervising staff
•    Responsible for the management of inpatients admitted to the Hospitalist Medical Service (HMS) on any ward at the HI / VG site. These responsibilities include accepting transfers, including a history and physical examination, appropriate orders, consults and investigations, daily examinations, review of the patients’ laboratory and radiologic investigations, as well as participation in discharge planning with the patients, patient’s family and health care team
•    Responsible for writing daily progress notes, as well as discharge summaries, on all active patients on the HMS roster
•    May perform practical procedures such as required
•    Responsible for handling of urgent or emergent situations for patients under their care, and responding to emergencies in consultation with attending staff 
•    Conduct family meetings and goals of care discussions for frail patients and those with complex comorbidity
•    Attend educational sessions and rounds as time permits
•    Participates in on-call responsibilities of the service.

About You

-Must meet the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (cpsns.ns.ca/resource/clinical-assistant-licence)
-Must have obtained (in writing) Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application deadline. Please upload this with your application
-CMPA coverage required 
-ACLS certification required
-Good command of written and spoken English
-Must be able to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills
-Completion of the equivalence of a rotating internship and postgraduate training and experience in Family Medicine are consider assets
-Physical demand - Must be able to sit, stand, walk and perform duties as outlined above
-Mental and Visual demand – High; must be able to deal with stressful situations 
-Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Hours
-Permanent, Full-Time Position, 96 hrs bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$49.91 - $63.57 Hourly
