Bambara Freelance Interpreter- Canada

MCIS Language Solutions (https://www.mcislanguages.com) is a social enterprise and the largest not-for-profit language services provider in Canada. We work with thousands of interpreters and translators.

In this freelance role, you will be required to interpret (perform spoken translation) in community settings (such as hospitals, the police, tribunal hearings, schools, etc.) in London between the English and Bambaralanguages.

Candidates must be fluent in English and Bambara
Reading proficiency is necessary as candidates may be asked to read and orally translate short readings, such as application forms.

Soft skills include sensitivity and willingness to support the community by providing a service for vulnerable populations who have linguistic barriers.

Candidates must also be willing to travel either by car or public transportation (or any other means) to the location of the assignments. A number of over-the-phone or video assignments are also available, which can be completed from home.

If this is your first time doing interpretation, we have a short, online training module available.

Formally trained and language-tested interpreters are also welcome to apply.

Job Types: Temporary, Freelance

Salary: $20.00 to $25.00 /hour

COVID-19 considerations:
MCIS will be requiring all interpreters to attend in person
assignments to be fully vaccinated.
