The Financial Services Branch provides a wide range of financial and administrative services, including: accounts payable; revenue and accounts receivable management; budget development and monitoring; financial reporting; development and maintenance of the Ministry's chart of accounts; policy advice; assistance and guidance regarding development and implementation of financial systems; emergency response preparedness; management of adequate space requirements, including maintenance, moves, heating, lighting, furniture standards, and janitorial and security services.
This position works directly with the senior management team across multiple Ministries within the Economy Sector to monitor quarterly projections; budget allocations; and the control of expenditures throughout the year. The position has primary responsibility to manage the delivery of Financial Planning and Reporting services (i.e., budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and maintenance of internal controls and financial risk management).
Job Requirements:
  • Professional accounting designation (such as CPA, CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, CPA-CGA) and five (5) years related experience.
  • An equivalent amount of education and related experience may be considered.
Related experience may include a combination of the following:
  • Experience in Financial Planning, management, accounting issues and budget cycles.
  • Experience facilitating the financial requirements of central agencies (e.g. Treasury Board Staff, Office of the Comptroller General, Provincial Treasury).
  • Experience preparing briefing notes for senior leadership.
  • Experience in supervising/leading in a professional environment, including managing the workload of other project managers and consultants, managing employee performance, coaching and mentoring, goal setting.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working in progressively responsible roles in budgetary management and financial analysis functions.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience in contract and risk management.
  • Experience in capital budget management.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
