Job Summary

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure ensures safe and efficient movement of people andGoods; access to services people count on; and economic sustainability and prosperity across British Columbia. The ministry is responsible for transportation modes including road, rail, air, transit, ferry, port and active transportation (walking, cycling, etc.).he Transit Strategy and Policy Branch is responsible for implementing provincial transit policy, budget and program development, negotiating and administering funding and cost sharing agreements as well as implementing and monitoring transit capital investments and other transit-related initiatives.
In this position, you will lead and coordinate the development of complex, sensitive and often highly visible transit policy initiatives, projects and working groups. A key focus of the position is on transit capital investments, strategies, and policies relating to areas in B.C. serviced by BC Transit. The duties will require significant engagement with internal and external stakeholders as well as issues management.
Job Requirements:
- University degree in in a related discipline and 3 years of current program and *related experience, or more than 5 years of management and related experience.
- *Related experience includes a combination of the following:
- Experience in planning, executing, and managing complex projects (including, as applicable, business case development / project justification, development of multi-party agreements, procurement, contract management, budget development and management, communications, etc.
- Experience providing leadership and direction to teams with diverse composition.
- Experience in policy analysis / development.
- Experience collaborating effectively with partners and stakeholders to initiate or influence policies, programs and engagement.
- Experience managing issues, problem solving strategically, and providing leadership and expertise, including articulating goals, gaining commitment, securing resources and accomplishing objectives, and providing advice to senior or executive management teams, internal staff, and external stakeholders
- Experience developing, explaining and presenting high level policy and practices clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, in language appropriate to the audience. This includes delivering presentations to senior management and external groups.
- Experience with financial management, program development and funding agreements.
- Preference may be given to those applicants with experience working in the transportation or transit sector.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
