Job Summary

Corporate Management Services Branch (CMSB) strives to provide excellence in corporate services, and partners in the Ministry of Attorney General, Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and Ministry of Housing's outcomes. Our mission as a central, consolidated support services team is to support all the program areas and branches. The Branch provides central corporate services to all staff and branches/programs within all Ministries. The Branch leads the strategic direction for internal communications for the sector, as well as preparation of budget submissions and financial reporting, and expert advice on finances, strategic human resources, facilities, business planning and corporate risk and security. The Branch is also the lead strategic link between its partners and government's central agencies.
The position participates in financial compliance reviews to ensure compliance with government policy, legislation, and financial management best practices. The policy analyst is also responsible for proactively providing guidance on a diverse range of issues related to signing authorities and ministry Policy and procedures.
Job Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in business administration, commerce, public administration, accounting, financial management or a related field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience related to financial management such as financial reporting, financial analysis, and forecasting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities concurrently.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience providing customer service.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in governance, risk and controls. Internal or External Audit experience.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
  • Experience with entering/reviewing data and processing transactions in the Corporate Financial System (CFS) (e.g. Oracle iExpense and iProcurement modules).
  • Experience with management of the Corporate Signing Authority System.
  • Experience interpreting Financial Policy.
  • Experience with advanced Excel.
  • Completion of or enrollment in an accounting or audit professional accreditation (CPA, CGA, CIA, CISA).
  • Experience in implementing Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) and Internal Control Framework initiatives.
  • Experience interpreting legislation and conducting analytical research with financial analysis, including variance analysis.
