Job Summary

Employee Relations is responsible for providing cross-government and cross-agency Employee Relations services on behalf of the public service.
The Senior Director, Employee Relations leads the day-to-day operations of the Employee Relations Branch, which is responsible for the investigation of major allegations of workplace misconduct and disclosures reported under the Public Interest Disclosure Act. The Senior Director oversees the planning and delivery of Employee Relations services, workforce restructuring services and employee/labour relations training courses for government ministries and agencies. This position leads a management team of Employee Relations experts who supervise professionals in an environment where labour and employment law, regulations and policy are continually evolving.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field, such as law, public administration, or industrial relations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience in challenging management and leadership roles directing and/or overseeing a wide range of activities.
  • Experience in the field of Employee Relations and administrative investigations.
  • Experience preparing strategies and action plans and communicating advice to audiences of senior decision makers.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience leading teams of professionals.

Proviso
  • Valid BC driver's license (minimum Class 5), or an equivalent class driver's license from another province or jurisdiction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work outside of normal working hours.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
