Basic Custodian - Stratford District Secondary School (Full-Time Permanent)

There is a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Basic Custodian position available immediately at Stratford District Secondary School.

The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Cleaning

• operate and maintain all equipment
• perform all minor and major cleaning as outlined in cleaning checklists and Standard Operating Procedures

Building Maintenance

• change lights
• shovel snow
• operate snow blower
• clean and inspect roof
• operate grass cutting equipment
• perform minor repairs
• conduct health and safety checks

The ideal candidate should possess:

• grade 12 diploma
• the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
• exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
• the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;
• experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers;
• knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
• satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position
• Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year (shift work is included)

Rate of Pay: $23.20 -$23.66 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
