Behaviour Support Worker/Autism Support Worker

New Haven Learning Centre is seeking a Behaviour Support Worker, with experience supporting individuals with Developmental Disabilities or complex needs

About the Role:

As part of the New Haven team, the BSW will support the front-line staff in assisting clients within our adult program. This role is predominately centre based, however flexibility to support the client and Instructor Therapist within the community may be required

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with front line staff and senior staff, responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Support Registered Behaviour Technicians in behaviour management
• Support Instructor Therapists in implementing Behaviour Support Plans
• Support in the delivery of individualized programming for clients
• Support clients with functional daily living skill, personal care skills, and communication skills
• Support in collecting and tracking data
• Prepare program materials
• Requirement to become SMG certified
• Provide support during transitions
• Participate in maintaining a clean environment by following specific hygiene protocols
• Adhere to agency requirements relating to reporting writing and record keeping.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience working with adults with autism and related disorders
• Experience supporting with individuals with complex behavioral needs

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• With training and certification provided in Safe Management Group (SMG), the candidate must be able to implement SMG techniques

Job Type: Full-time
