Job description

As a Boat Top Seamstress, you will play a vital role in our marine upholstery department, specializing in the fabrication and installation of Boat Tops, covers, and related canvas products. You will utilize your sewing skills and attention to detail to create high-quality, custom-fitted Boat Tops that enhance the appearance and functionality of our customers’ vessels. This position requires proficiency in sewing techniques, knowledge of marine fabrics, and the ability to interpret design specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret design specifications, measurements, and drawings to create Boat Tops and covers that meet customer requirements.
  • Cut, sew, and assemble Boat Top components, including fabric panels, zippers, grommets, and fasteners.
  • Operate industrial sewing machines, and other equipment to ensure accurate and precise stitching.
  • Collaborate with team members to discuss design options, fabric choices, and installation considerations.
  • Conduct on-site measurements and fittings to ensure a precise fit and proper installation of Boat Tops and covers.
  • Repair and modify existing Boat Tops, covers, and canvas products as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and inventory of fabrics, threads, and other sewing supplies.
  • Adhere to quality control standards, ensuring that each finished product meets our high-quality standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new fabrics, and sewing techniques through continuous learning and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Seamstress, preferably with a focus on Boat Tops, covers, or marine upholstery.
  • Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines and related equipment.
  • Strong sewing skills with the ability to produce precise, clean, and durable seams.
  • Knowledge of marine fabrics, their properties, and appropriate applications in various weather conditions.
  • Understanding of design principles and the ability to interpret measurements and specifications accurately.
  • Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality craftsmanship.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet project deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, customers, and boat owners.
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve when faced with design or installation challenges.
  • Flexibility to work in various environments, including on-site installations and occasional off-site projects.
