The Vancouver Rowing Club, the city's oldest amateur athletic club, is nestled in the heart of Stanley Park. Our vibrant clubhouse is a hub for rowing, rugby, field hockey and yachting, and is a premier event venue.
We are currently seeking a self-motivated and organized Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our finance team. This role offers flexible hours, with workload fluctuations based on the club's financial cycles and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare annual membership and moorage invoices, along with monthly statements.
- Process accounts receivable and manage any required collections.
- Respond to member inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Process accounts payable.
- Reconcile daily cashouts from all point-of-sale terminals.
- Enforce cash controls and prepare bank deposits.
- Reconcile credit card, bank account, and other statements.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the club’s budget.
- Generate monthly and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare and submit all government remittances.
- Collaborate with external auditors to prepare necessary documents for annual audits and tax filings.
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft365.
- Experience with Jonas Club Management software and club or hospitality experience considered an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good organization and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Capable of working independently and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
