The Manitoba Women’s Enterprise Centre is a non-profit organization that for 29 years has been delivering a wide range of business resources and support to self-identifying women, non-binary, and Two-Spirit individuals as they operate their businesses throughout Manitoba.

We are currently looking to fill a full-time Business Advisor position. Our ideal candidate is enthusiastic about growing a forward-looking organization that helps those we serve successfully start, operate, and grow their enterprises.

What We Do

Our team is committed to guiding, encouraging, and supporting our clients and their partners along their path to success—from early start, expansion, through to transition and, in some cases, sale of the business. We accomplish this by offering advising, financing, training, networking opportunities, and events designed to empower entrepreneurial success.

Your Role

Working directly with the Business Solutions team, your role is responsible for providing advisory service and support to our clients, including the provision of loans up to $150,000.00.

You pride yourself on being a continual learner and keeping abreast of business and market conditions.

Your Key Responsibilities

Business Plan Reviews

· Detailed analysis, discovery, and ability to communicate required enhancements to the client

· Provide critical feedback where appropriate in a supportive and empathetic manner

· Strong financial assessment, which includes analysis of accountant-prepared financial statements and in-house accounting reports, as well as understanding and communicating the meaning behind the numbers and the impact that the financial results may have on the business's short- and long-term success

Loan Assessments

· Assisting and developing a complete and comprehensive business plan, financial projections, and loan assessment to present and advocate on behalf of the client to the Loan Committee

· Ensure a duty of care for the client as well as duty of care for the Centre and stakeholders

· Assisting clients in accessing financing and providing on-going support to enterprises that qualify and can satisfy all the loan requirements (consistent loan repayments, submitting timely quarterly/yearly financials and paying out the loan)

Facilitating Seminars, Training, and Presentations to Stakeholders

· Providing inspiring and informative training sessions to new and existing clients

· Exceptional communication skills resulting in building community, connections, and relationships

· Ability to deliver set programming as well as create and develop new presentations and training

· Creating engaging learning environments that satisfy all learning styles (online and offline)

Qualifications and Experience (Ideal):

· Experience in an advisory role

· Experience in lending and/or funding

· Business management experience, ideally in an entrepreneurial setting

· A collaborator with excellent communication skills

· Critical thinking abilities

· Ability to work occasionally outside of regular business hours

· Ability to communicate in more than one language is an asset

Knowledge and Skills (Essential):

· Proven relationship-building skills

· Well-developed administrative, time management, and organizational skills

· Demonstrated presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills

· Intermediate level at utilizing all platforms of Microsoft Office suite

· Ability to work independently, within a collaborative team environment
